If your kids don’t mind seeing seeds and sultanas scattered throughout their snacks then they’ll love this slice. Â You could even cut it into muesli bar lengths instead of squares if you wanted to. Â And apart from the health benefits, it’s a breeze to throw together and you can add or subtract any dried fruit or nuts you want. Â It only took me a couple of minutes to prepare. Â I think the longest part was melting the butter, golden syrup and brown sugar together, and while that was happening I put my dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. Â I had better stop, or I’ll give you all of the instructions here. Â My family loves to grab a piece of this for a breakfast on the go.
Fruit and Seed Slice
Ingredients:
2 1/2 Cups Quick Oats
165g Sunbeam Seed Mix (just Sunflower Seeds and Pepitas, so you can easily make your own)
1/2 Sultanas or Currants
125g Unsalted Butter
1/2 Golden Syrup (you could use Maple Syrup)
1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
Directions:
Combine butter, syrup and brown sugar in saucepan over low heat until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves.
Meanwhile place dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
Pour liquid mixture over dry ingredients and stir to thoroughly combine, making sure all of the dry ingredients are moistened.
Press into a lined 16 x 26cm slice pan.
Bake at 180C for 25-30 minutes or until golden and set.
Cool in the pan, I then placed mine in the fridge to make sure it was completely set so it wouldn’t crumble when I sliced it.
Slice into squares or bars.
Enjoy!
